Be the Designer-Choose an Accent Paint Color and Coordinating Area Rugs

Don’t you love the colors in these Company C rugs!  It is hard to decide which one to use.  A & C will be the accent rugs to coordinate with B & D.

We have tentatively selected two accent paint colors to coordinate with the rugs.  All walls will be Benjamin Moore White Dove except for one accent wall in the great room.  Here are the choices:benjaminmoore_majesticblue_2051-40_paint_accent_wall

Benjamin Moore Majestic Blue

Benjamin Moore Corlsbud Canyon

The long narrow roll on the right (in the photo) is wallcovering to be used in a nearby office.  This is a great new onyx pattern by Candice Olsen for York Wallcovering!  I included this so you can see one element to consider when you are choosing the rugs and the paint colors.

NOW-it is your turn to pick the rugs and paint.  Be the designer!

Select 1 rug on the left (A or C), one rug on the right (B or D) and 1 paint color from the above.  Let us know why you liked that combination.  Post your selections and comments below.  I will let you know if you and my client have the same good taste!

For all of you who respond I will randomly select one name and send you a special gift for Mary Sherwood Art Glass.  Good luck!

Have fun with it!

All the best!

  1. Mary says:

Thanks, Joan. Love your comments that explain why you made those choices.

  2. Joan Haselman says:

Hi Mary, C for the accent rug, B for the wall-to-wall or large area rug, and the Canyon accent wall popped out at me. Blue is my favorite color, but when I decorate rooms I like to picture how they would look if I were able to decorate for Christmas as I would wish, and in my experience, the Christmas colors tend to get lost in blue, but warmer colors enhance them.

  3. Mary says:

Thanks, Yvonne. All of your choices work well. Not surprised you selected Corlsbud Canyon. Will reveal the client’s choices next Wednesday!

  4. Mary says:

  8. Mary says:

Thanks, Cindy! Maybe you should add some of the blue pallet from Rug D in your bathroom for a sea-like feel to coordinate with the lighthouses.

  9. Mary says:

    Thanks, Cindy-understand!

  10. Mary says:

Thanks, Nancy. I like your selections. Not sure about Rug C being more neutral gender 🙂 but the geometric pattern vs. the floral does make your point.
I will reveal the client’s choice next Wednesday and the winner of the special gift!

  11. Mary says:

Fairley-the aquas, teals and soft blues have grown on me. I love to use those colors with brighter elements. I will announce the client’s selection and the winner of the special gift next Wednesday.

  17. Vicky Goforth says:

C accent rug with D. I just liked the c rug. The B rug had swirls similar to wall covering so I felt D would be better. I’m choosing corlsbug canyon since there is already enough blue with rug and wall covering. This was fun! I Enjoy all your decorating ideas and info. I do receive two emails so you need to delete one from your group.

  18. Anita Chandler says:

Rugs A and B, Paint color Corlsbud Canyon

I like the bright happy colors. I love the design of rug A.

  19. Kristin Adams says:

I would pick A for the accent rug to coordinate with B. Then the BM Majestic Blue accent wall color. My reasoning is that I like the movement going on in the Orange colored rug B… The overall roundness of the flowers in accent rug A works together with it, rather then the more geometric design of accent rug C! Knowing the the onyx wall covering that will be in the next room also has flowing / rounded movement as opposed to straight lines, I believe it all works! And besides, I love having fun color pops on a floor! I’m looking forward to seeing what you & your client pick!

  20. Paula Fahnestock says:

I like carpet A for the main area because it is bright and sunny with a touch of cool with the aqua or light teal in the design and pair it with the Benjamin Moore Majestic Blue paint. For the nearby office, I like carpet B because I feel any of the other carpet patterns would detract from the beautiful onyx pattern of the wallcovering and the carpet would bring out what appears to be some lighter orange and gold lines in the pattern. I also like the Majestic Blue paint for the accent wall.

  21. Cindy Vinson says:

Rug A-love the flower (Gardner in me)
    Rug D-love the plaid
    Paint-Majestic Blue
Just used these colors in our condo in North Myrtle Beach and again at Lake Gaston. My favorite colors. Blue is calming, rich, never get tired of it. Rug C looks “childlike” from the sample, so it is my least favorite. I am more scared of color than Mary is, instead of a color that is bright and pops, I go for the calming, tranquil effect, good color next to water (maybe that says my life is chaotic, idk.) Good luck !

  22. Fairley Cook says:

I would go with A and D and the Majestic Blue (teal) paint. I think it just better coordinates with the wallcovering. Plus I don’t think you would get tired of the teal. I have teal in my sunroom and love it! I really like Rug C but don’t think it coordinates as well with the teal! I also have a Company C rug in my pool house! Love it! Best of luck to your client!

  23. Nancy Eckhoff says:

I choose rugs C and B and blue paint. (Although rug A came in second). But C is more gender neutral…haha
Rug C I like the pattern and colors.
Rug B vs Rug D – Rug B looks more “current”.
Blue paint, b/c it cheers me up more.

Whichever way the client goes, can’t go wrong. Beautiful choices!

  24. Cindy Vaughan says:

One more comment. I chose the rug and colors based on the wall covering. It is beautiful.

  25. Cindy Vaughan says:

    I choose Rug A and Rug D
the paint color should be Corlsbud Canyon

Love these colors. I want to do something different in my bedroom. and possibly my bath. However, I like lighthouses and I need something that would go with it.

    Have fun

  26. Terry Hux says:

    A & B with majestic blue paint.

  27. Jane says:

A (because it looks happy) and D (it seems to ground the room and because I love things in the blues family!) And of course the wall is Majestic blue. I have used a similar color to Corlsbud Canyon, but I’d pick the other just for a change for me!

  28. Marie says:

    A & D rugs
    Corlsbud Canyon Accent Paint

  29. Brenda says:

A and C. Not sure about paint as I think the Canyon may be too much but I am picking it because I don’t think the blue works.

  30. Yvonne says:

I like c,d, and corlsbud canyon love the rugs.
