Design Inspired by the Mountains of the SouthwestBy Mary
Good morning from Tucson! Our visit to Tucson has been extended several times the last few days because of all the winter weather between here and there! We drove out West in two days with wonderful weather and blue skies. Never in our planning did we figure on ice and snow getting in the way of our return home. If you have ever driven across the plains of TX you know how desolate it can be. With limited options for pulling off the road we have been waiting for it to clear. We plan to leave as soon as we can make it safely. With the beautiful warm weather here I sorta feel like a kid not wanting summer camp to end but we are coming back the LKG!
I mentioned in last week’s DWW, that our Tucson friends have purchased a beautiful new home on Dove mountain. The house was built as the Ritz Carlton model when they were developing the area in 2007. It is an amazing house with so much attention to detail. We looked at it two weeks ago and they are closing this Friday! WOW! This real estate transaction has moved so fast!
So, of course, we jumped right into the interior design of this wonderful property. The owner wanted a brighter, more updated color pallet. As I have always said find your “given”. A “given” is a piece of art, area rug, fabric or what ever that will lead you into a design direction. We selected Hayden, a Company C area rug, for the living space to get us started. We found the perfect coordinating fabrics with colors that are inspired by the natural beauty of the mountain sunrise and sunset.
Also, I found inspiration in a piece of local art.
Here is the pallet and just the beginning of a beautiful, nature inspired, desert mountain interior. I am so excited to have gotten this opportunity to work on this house. I have accomplished so much in the last ten days and found many local design resources. It has been so inspiring!!!
Here’s to many more amazing sunrises and sunsets!
See you soon!
