Desert Bloom

“Desert Bloom” has a palpable sense of whimsy! The healing energy depicted in this landscape piece explores the ever-changing textures of Arizona’s landscapes. Set in the Sonoran Desert, the home of artist Mary Sherwood, she paints a lush scene of flora that almost carries you away with movement. 

Mary paints a scene of lush flora blowing in the wind, almost carrying you away with a sense of movement. She uses whimsical shades of turquoise, crimson, chartreuse yellow, and lavender. Golden skies blend into a soft sunset, contrasting the almost foggy Santa Catalina Mountains that lie on the horizon. 

The focal point of this painting is also its source of inspiration, the Saguaro Cactus, which is exclusively found in Mary’s home in the Sonoran Desert. Serving as a beacon of light for the surrounding blooms, wildflowers, and canyons, it represents strength and reliance in a typically barren landscape. This special piece reminds us how the most beautiful things can grow in the most unlikely of places.
